New York Silver Nitrate is primarily a work of nostalgia and memory.

Nostalgia for errors, imperfections, grime on film. Nostalgia for coincidence, for the stolen shot, for the impossibility of checking immediately. Nostalgia for a time when I could roam the streets with the claim of not being a photographer but being free to photograph. Nostalgia for an interior, internal space all my own in which to be master of hours that have no cost. Nostalgia for a beautiful moment in my life.

The publishing of this book is a refusal of what I’m experiencing.

Where the coexistence of various forms of expression is stepping aside for a dictatorship of standards. I own cameras which are decidedly better professionally, on the cutting edge. Super professional optics and all the programs for retouching.
